stepmother, but he was afraid his older half-brother would shoot HIM.

At his sentencing hearing Chris testified he and Willie Gammon decided to
pack their bags and leave their dad's home, but their attempt to hot-wire a car
failed.
Chris says Willie then pulled a gun and said they've have to kill Gary and
Rebecca Gammon when the couple returned home.
Chris and a string of family members testified Gary Gammon was violent and
abusive.
Chris says he and Willie were afraid for their own lives if their dad saw
what they had done to the car.
Both brothers pled guilty in Gary Gammon's death and their stepmother's
wounding.
The judge will hear evidence in Willie's case tomorrow before sentencing
both brothers Wednesday.

In his first year as a pee wee football coach in Salem, Keith Gaines took
his group of 7 and 8 year olds to the top.
But a few months ago he hit bottom when some of his players accused him of
assault.
Tonight he hopes his reputation has been restored.

dismissed.
The children claimed that their coach had hit them with a belt during
practice.

Gaines' attorney thinks some parents had it in for the coach... because of

Around 11 last night 18-year old Steven Spinner told police he was
approached by two men on Jackson Street who demanded money.
Spinner refused and was walking away when the suspects shot him in the back
and took his wallet.
The pair escaped with a small amount of cash.
Spinner was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital where he's in serious
condition.
Police believe they've identified the two suspects but have "not" arrested
anyone.

Charges haven't been filed.
Baiul could have her license taken away.

He was arrested and charged with trespassing and resisting arrest on April
13th of last year.

the police to corroborate their stories led to the acquittal.

((VMI unveiled Ted Cain in the Marshall Library, quite appropriate,
considering he's one of the country's top offensive scholars.

VMI worked hard fora month to find what the school feels is a nice fit. Cain
has succeeded as a big time college assistant but his military background was
also attractive to VMI.

He comes to VMI from his N.C. State 11 year offensive coordinator's
position. 7 of the Wolfpacks'top passing yardage seasons came under his
guidance, making him even more of a welcome addition to a a team that had only
5 touchdown passes this past season.
