close to 200 layoffs may be on the way.

Good evening, I'm Jean Jadhon.
The new year has not gotten off to a good start for workers at the Salem G-E
They've been on a mandatory "vacation" because of a low workload.
Now an employee who says he's familiar with the situation at the drive
systems plant- believes soon after workers get back on the job, about 188 of
them will receive pink slips.
General Electric admits "the production workload situation is more serious
than in years past" but emphasizes it "doesn't have an announcement to make at
this time", and it continues to meet with union leaders.
Paula Jones' Sexual Harrassment case against the President is now in the
hands of the Supreme Court.
It must decide if a President can face a lawsuit while in office.
Attorneys for Jones say a four year delay is too long.
But the President's lawyers argued the case should wait until the President
is out of office.
