Neighbors react to the news that it was an eight year old who allegedly
killed a Franklin County Probation officer--who is also his stepfather.

Prosecutors and police won't comment, but a close source-- says the eight
year old boy is the chief suspect in the death of Bernard Rosser.
The boy was arrested yesterday... about a month after Rosser's body was
discovered inside his Gretna home.

The Rossers had lived there for about two years.
Neighbors tell NEWS 7 that the eight- year old IS big for his age.
They also say the child appeared to enjoy the outdoors-- and was seen
playing the drums in the Rosser's yard days after the murder.
In Carroll County, two brothers who killed their father and wounded their
step-mother were sentenced to 48 years behind bars.
Willie and Chris Gammon could've gotten up to three life terms each.
In pleading for leniency, their lawyers called them psychological hostages
of a violent, abusive father, Gary.
They said the brothers feared for their own lives if their father saw they
had damaged the car in a failed effort to hot-wire it to run away.

Gary Gammon died when his sons shot him in his home in October of 1994.
His wife, Rebecca Gammon may never walk as a result of her injuries.
She claims Gary was not the violent man his sons made him out to be, and
had little to say about their sentence.

Chris and Willie Gammon both pled no contest to the charges.
A Lynchburg teenager faces a multitude of charges after he allegedly stole
a car and lead police on a chase.
Police were following up a report of a possible abduction when an officer
spotted the vehicle on Monsview Place.
The 15-year old drove the car over a curb and then backed into the police
A short chase ended when the teen crashed the stolen vehicle into a parked
He was treated for minor head injuries.
A videotape from 1994 could effect the Attorney General nomination in
In the tape candidate Gil Davis is drinking and partying with a client at
a Roanoke hotel.
Davis, who is representing Paula Jones in her sexual harrassment suit
against President Clinton, also represents Pittsylvania County resident Ramona
Hines in a lawsuit.
In 1994, Hines video taped a meeting she and her husband had with Davis in a
Roanoke Hotel, where the three drank, and discussed a Playboy Magazine

still represents her and is bound by attorney-client confidentiality.
Davis is one of four candidates vying for the Republican Attorney General

June 10th primary.

Mark Earley is one of two GOP state senators running against Davis.
Senator Ken Stolle (STAH-lee) says Hines' tape is "extremely damaging," NOT
just to his campaign but to his personal life.
Former George Allen cabinet secretary Jerry Kilgore says he's anxious to
hear what Davis has to say about the tape.

In Colorado-- it's diverted attention away from the murder of six-year-old

A photo lab technician has been charged in the leaks of sensitive pictures
in the case.
Police say Lawrence Smith copied crime scene photos, and within hours had
them in the hands of the supermarket tabloid "The Globe" for publication.

former Boulder County Sheriff's Deputy.
Both suspects have been arrested.
The tabloid reportedly paid 55-hundred dollars for the shots.
Meantime, police continue investigating the murder of JonBenet Ramsey.
The child beauty queen was found dead in the basement of her home, the
day after Christmas.
The remains of ten American servicemen were handed over to U-S officials
today in China... including those of a pilot from Salem.

Following a year- long stay in Texas, Bern Ewert is heading back to
The former Roanoke city manager and Explore Park Director has been named the
executive of Prince William County in northern Virginia.
After leaving Explore in 1991, Ewert worked as a consultant.
He spent several months in Czechoslovakia advising local officials in the
city of Pilsen.
Since then, he has served as the interim city manager in Galveston, Texas.
He will start his new position March First.

Researchers found it's not the job per se, but how the workers cope with

The Virginia Tech Hokies tuned up for Saturday's big game with Rhode Island
by hammering Georgia Southern tonight 76-to-41 at the Cassell.
