Authorities have released the identity of the man shot and killed last night by a Henry County Sheriff's Deputy.

The incident happened shortly after ten o'clock behind Clarence's Steak House on Route 220- in Ridgeway.
It all began when deputies attempted to question David Roy Craighead in the restaurant parking lot.
Sheriff's officials say when deputies approached Craighead behind the building he threatened them with a tire tool.
Authorities say that's when one of the deputies sprayed Craighead with pepper spray.
Sheriff Frank Cassell says the spray apparently did not faze Craighead who continued to move toward the officers in a threatening manner.

Two children are dead after an early morning fire in the Piper's Gap area of Carroll County.
Four children and their father were in the house when the fire broke out.
Carroll County fire officials say Edward Spears woke up and tried to alert his children when he smelled smoke, but only two of them were able to escape.
The father suffered second and third degree burns.
The mother was at work.

The agency that regulates railroads would like to see Conrail evenly split between Norfolk Southern and its rival C-S-X.

Melanie in an interview with The Washington Post, the head of the Surface Transportation Board said it's prepared to impose a plan that would split control of the east equally between Norfolk Southern and C-S-X, the two Virginia railroads jockeying for control of Conrail.

But Linda Morgan says the board would prefer that the railroads settle the whole thing by themselves.
The companies have fought bitterly to a stalemate over Conrail, a railroad that has a monopoly over highly coveted routes in the northeastern U-S.

It ended on Route 220 near Gala, when Stocks collided with two vehicles.
