This morning authorities began rounding up suspects.
The man charged with shooting and wounding a Danville police officer late last year was among the first to be brought in.
Marlowe Andre Farmer is charged with cocaine distribution.
Nearly 40- others in the Pittsylvania County area were also arrested this morning by federal, state and local police.
Those charged were taken to Mount Herman Elementary near Danville where authorities are compiling their paperwork.
Authorities expect to arrest more than a hundred more suspects.
The undercover drug operation has been underway for more than a year.

Russian Communists have failed in their attempt today to oust President Boris Yeltsin for being sick.
