Today marks the 24th anniversary of the landmark Roe v. Wade Supreme Court
decision legalizing abortion.
Thousands of anti-abortion activists are expected to take part in the annual
March for Life.
Abortion-rights activists will be holding counter-demonstrations
across the country.
Tension is already high in the capital after an explosive device went off
today near a Washington Planned Parent Clinic.

Two brothers are dead after a fire consumed their home yesterday morning.

When 16- year- old Jennifer Spears woke up around 5am, her bedroom wall was
glowing red. She could hear her father yelling that the house was on fire.

Jennifer escaped through a basement door.
She ran to a neighbor's to call 911, then returned to help her father bang

The tragedy stunned the family's neighbors.

The results of a significant undercover drug operation are being felt on the
This morning authorities began rounding up suspects.
The man charged with shooting and wounding a Danville police officer late
last year was among the first to be brought in.
Marlowe Andre Farmer is charged with cocaine distribution.
Nearly 40- others in the Pittsylvania County area were also arrested this
morning by federal, state and local police.
Those charged were taken to Mount Herman Elementary near Danville where
authorities are compiling their paperwork.
Authorities expect to arrest more than a hundred more suspects.
The undercover drug operation has been underway for more than a year.
After six days of deliberations a North Carolina jury has awarded Food Lion
five and a half million dollars in punitive damages in its lawsuit against
The federal jury found the network committed fraud with its hidden- camera
expose on food-handling at Food Lion.
Food Lion was seeking FIFTY-TWO million dollars.
Russian Communists have failed in their attempt today to oust President Boris
Yeltsin for being sick.
The move in the lower house of parliament was defeated 102 to 87.
The vote came only hours after Yeltsin made a surprise trip to the Kremlin
to prove he's not too ill to run the country.
He was hospitalized for nearly two weeks with pneumonia.
