An infant's life is in jeopardy tonight after his father allegedly lead
authorities on a high speed chase from North Carolina into Halifax County.

Eric, the infant child was apparently strapped in a child safety seat when
his father's car flipped, near Turbeville.

The reality of what happened apparently set in quickly for 19- year old year
old Rashawn Crawford of Roxboro, North Carolina.
Witnesses say Crawford's infant son was seriously hurt when the top of the
Mitsubishi Mirage apparently struck the infant's skull.
Authorities from Person County, North Carolina had been chasing Crawford for
about 30- miles when he crashed in Halifax County around four- o'clock.
Sheriff's officials say Crawford's sister and another child were also in the

Today a Roanoke jury upheld a lower court conviction, rejecting Leftwich's
claim that the police officers attacked him.

The defense says Howard told his family he killed Goins so they would spring
for bus tickets for him and his wife.

Another officer testified Tisha Howard said was high when she stopped to
visit the old man she had known for years.
According to the police report, Tisha said she was tripping out and thought
Goins was going to hurt her, that she freaked out and the next thing she knew
there was blood everywhere.
Goins died from stab wounds to his chest and neck.

In 1995, state records show almost 23-hundred teen-age girls had abortions
performed in Virginia.
A bill to require parents be notified -- unless a judge decides the girl
could suffer abuse -- is finally on its way out of Virginia's General Assembly.
Parental notification finally found a friendly Senate committee, that

Frank Helvestine concedes that he was an accessory before the fact in a
fatal car bombing 21 years ago.
But today his attorney argued he cannot be convicted of murder or malicious

The Washington Redskins and former number one draft pick Heath Shuler are
