Two men from Texas were detoured when a sheriff's deputy pulled them over on I-81.

When the two men inside gave conflicting stories, he called for a drug- sniffing dog to search the van.

A traffic stop for suspected drunken driving in Wytheville turns into a major drug bust.

A sheriff's deputy pulled over the driver Sunday on Interstate-81.
After a drug-sniffing dog alerted officers to the scent of marijuana, a search of the van turned up 40 pounds of pot and a handgun.
The driver and his passenger were traveling from Texas to Richmond.
Both face state and federal drug and weapons charges.
This is the third van-load of illegal drugs Wythe County authorities have intercepted in less than a year.

Opening Ceremonies for the Special Olympics began last night, and marching along in the fanfare was 17- year- old Tina Camden.
The Rockbridge County native is there to ski in the womens' slalom, giant slalom and downhill events... and was the ONLY delegate from Virginia chosen for the Games.
Camden is one of two-thousand athletes from 75 countries who have traveled to Canada to compete.
