congressional district is unconstitutional because of racial gerrymandering.
That district runs from the Richmond area to Tidewater...and is represented
by Virginia's only black congressman, Democrat Bobby Scott.
While that's nowhere near our region, the decision makes quite an impact.

Yokohama Tire plant.
Yesterday, News- 7 showed excerpts from a speech given by the company's new
president.

at its plant in Bedford.

Rubatex says if business picks up, it hopes to hire everyone back within a

Rubatex makes foam rubber for use in products such as shoe soles and pipe
insulation.

fondling an 8- year- old boy.
35- year- old Walter Wayne Pugh entered an Alford plea.

strong enough to convict him.
Both sides say they're happy to avoid taking the case to trial.

What's interesting is how they say they learned about Breeden.

Governor Jim Hunt told tobacco growers in Raleigh there's a strong

drug.

The Knoxville Cherokees are having a rough ride tonight in Roanoke. First,
their Bus broke down on the way to the Roundhouse and the game was delayed
around 45 minutes before the game got under way.

The Express was anxious to hit the ice after the delay and the team skated
into the Roundhouse in a cloud of smoke.
Jeff Jablonski gets the puck out on the break and beats the Knoxville
goalie with the shot to make it 1 to nothing express with 8-minutes left in the
first Period.
Roanoke would take the 2 to nothing lead when Jeff Cowan gets the rebound in
front of the net and scores off the Power Play.
Seconds later the Express scored again then Jablonski gets out on the
break and scores his second goal of the game the Express led 4 to nothing at
the end of the second period. The third period is just now underway.

The First official day of Winston Cup practice hit the Daytona
International Speedway today as drivers tried put the finishing touches on
preparations for tomorrow's Daytona 500 qualifying.

The big story today; how the Fords dominated the Chevy's. The top 7 fastest
chart speeds came from Fords.
Jeff Gordon and his Dupont Chevrolet could only muster the 25th fastest time
on the day.
Defending Winston Cup champion Terry Labonte, who is on the pole for the
Busch Clash Sunday, was 34th fastest in his Kelloggs Number 5 Chevrolet.
Dale Jarrett was the fastest of the Fords before Rusty wallace came along
and notched the top speed at over 189 miles per hour. South Boston native Jeff
Burton was not so lucky.
