Witnesses say Lisa Sizemore was killed as she stood at the door of her

And in Pittsylvania County, investigators say Timothy Wayne Abbott shot and
killed his wife Melissa last night.
Abbot is being held without bond.
In Danville, national guardsman said goodbuy to loved ones as they begin the
first leg of their trip to Bosnia.

Police in Roanoke County are investigating what they're calling a murder
Investigators say 32-year-old Ronnie Brooks allegedly shot 26-year-old Lisa
Sizemore, both of Roanoke County, and then turned the gun on himself.
The shooting happened around 10-30 last night at Brooks' Malvern Road home.
As Denise Allen reports Sizemore's boyfriend witnessed the incident.

Brooks is in Roanoke Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
Investigators say the shooting is still under investigation and charges are
pending against him.
Sizemore was the mother of two children.
Another murder last night...this one involving a husband and wife in

Sheriff's deputies say 34- year- old Timothy Wayne Abbott of Keeling shot
and killed his wife around 9 last night.
It happened at the couple's residence on Blair Lane.
31- year- old Melissa Faye Holland Abbott was shot once in the chest.
She died at the scene.
Timothy Abbott is being held WITHOUT bond in the Pittsylvania County Jail.
Sheriff's officials say they have no motive at this time.
It was an emotional farewell for a Danville National Guard unit headed to

The stay in Fort Benning, Georgia is expected to last less than a week--
after that the guardsmen will travel to Germany before reaching their ultimate
The unit is expected to stay in Germany for a couple of weeks, which means
they could arrive in Bosnia in about a month.

Female cadets from two military colleges will live in the barracks of the
Virginia Military Institute this fall to help the first class of women fit in.
Superintendent Josiah Bunting III told the V-M-I board of visitors yesterday
that four women from Texas A-and-M University and four from Norwich University
will become part of the corps of cadets in August.
Bunting says the goal is to provide the young female cadets with advisers
and counselors as they attend their first years at the previously all-male
Beauty pageants for children have been under a microscope since the murder
of 6-year-old Jon Benet Ramsey.
Ramsey was found dead in her Colorado home shortly after Christmas.
At her young age, she, was a veteran of the pageant circuit.
America's Cover Miss and Cover Boys sponsored a pageant at Tanglewood Mall
Boys ages one month to five and girls up to 25 years old strutted their
stuff for trophies and cash.
