The group, The Population Council, which holds the patent to the drug-- says it's settled a lawsuit that was blocking the drug's introduction.
The Population Council says the drug could be available in this country by the end of the year.
The Food and Drug Administration has declared RU-486 safe and effective.
Now it's waiting for more information on the manufacturing and labelling before it gives it's final approval.
The drug has sparked an emotional debate among abortion opponents-- some groups have vowed to block the drug's approval.

A source tells the Associated Press the birth was natural and without complications. Jackson denies a London tabloid that the couple used artificial insemination and that he paid his wife 528-thousand dollars to carry the baby.
