Hundreds of jobs are coming to Henry County as an Ohio company sets up shop.
And in Lynchburg, a replacement is named to fill the city council seat left
open by the death of Junius Haskins.

A sizeable winter storm is pulling out of the Gulf, and will begin moving
along the mid- Atlantic.
This will first bring us precipitation in the form of snow this afternoon--
then it will change over into sleet and freezing rain tonight.
Most of southwestern and central Virginia will see between one and three
inches of snow.
The Highlands could see up to five inches.

A replacement has been found for the late Junius Haskins on Lynchburg city
By a unanimous vote, council appointed Edward M. Barksdale to fill out the
remainder of Haskins' term.
Barksdale was one of ten applicants from Ward Two, representing most of
Lynchburg's inner city.
Council members say everyone who applied was a worthy candidate, but
Barksdale's experience gave him the edge up.

The nation's largest computerized embroidery firm is moving to Henry County.
Five-B's will move into Beaver Creek Industrial Park.
Governor Allen and local dignitaries were on hand in Henry County yesterday
afternoon for the announcement.
The Ohio based company plans to hire one- thousand workers over the next

State officials say they're impressed with improvements at the Roanoke
Juvenile Detention Home.
Yesterday, the Virginia Board of Juvenile Justice voted to re-certify the

But yesterdays, the board agreed to certify the facility for one year. The
city must deliver a status report after three months.
The state placed the Coyner Springs facility on probation after inspectors
