George Wythe's principal says his high school is not a hostile environment for Black Students-- in fact, the student body president is African American.

A shooting early this morning in Smyth County claimed three lives.
Investigators believe 26- year- old Eric Shazier (SHAY-zer) shot his girlfriend and their 21- month - old son before killing himself.

Police say the first shots were fired at a home in Chilhowie, where Michelle Olson was killed, and another man was wounded. Shazier then fled with the child.

19- year old Carlos Santana Jackson is a star basketball player-- who just hours before his arrest-- helped his team defeat G-W Danville.

It was right from the hospital to a jail cell today for a Roanoke County man charged with first degree murder.

Police say 32- year- old Ronnie Brooks is being held without bond in connection with the February eighth shooting death of his ex- girlfriend, Lisa Sizemore.
Brooks was at the hospital recovering from a self- inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
He's accused of fatally shooting the 26- year- old when she came to his home to pick up her things.
Brooks also faces charges of use of a firearm in a felony.
He's supposed to appear in court later this week.
