A group in Wythe County is alleging racism at a Wythe County High School.
The Concerned Citizens network says some students at George Wythe High School
have used racial slurs and thrown nooses at African American students.
They say the school system isn't doing enough about it.
Boulder Colorado police have wrapped up two days of interviews in Georgia
in the Jon Bonet Ramsey murder investigation.
And a celebration for Liz Taylor's 65th birthday. We'll have highlights.

The students say some white students use racial slurs, and began to wear
nooses on their clothing.

The black students are part of the Concerned Citizens network. The group
was founded two years ago in response to growing racial problems, and is
helping the students present their case to the principal and the school board.
George Wythe's principal says his high school is not a hostile environment
for Black Students-- in fact, the student body president is African American.

A shooting early this morning in Smyth County claimed three lives.
Investigators believe 26- year- old Eric Shazier (SHAY-zer) shot his
girlfriend and their 21- month - old son before killing himself.
Police say the first shots were fired at a home in Chilhowie, where
Michelle Olson was killed, and another man was wounded. Shazier then fled with
The two were later found at the Hungry Mother Campground when Shazier's
car crashed into a motor home.

Sheriff's deputies say, at the time, they had NO idea they were arresting
three local athletes.
19- year old Carlos Santana Jackson is a star basketball player-- who just
hours before his arrest-- helped his team defeat G-W Danville.

The other athletes arrested played football for Halifax.
Cedric Jacobs, number 25- for the team, and number 3- Michael Chappell, are
also charged with possession of marijuana.
Three juveniles were also taken into custody but because of their age--
little is known about their identity.

One expert says it appears 6 year old JonBenet Ramsey was a victim of
chronic sex abuse.
A Pennsylvania coroner says that's his conclusion after seeing what's been
released of the girl's autopsy.
Dr. (Sear-ul Weck) ) Cryil Wecht says the autopsy showed Ramsey had previous
injuries she probably could not have done to herself.
Boulder police are wrapping up interviews in Georgia. They talked with
relatives and friends of the Ramsey's.
As Rick Blalock reports police hope to find yet another piece of the puzzle
in the investigation.

It was right from the hospital to a jail cell today for a Roanoke County man
charged with first degree murder.

Police say 32- year- old Ronnie Brooks is being held without bond in
connection with the February eighth shooting death of his ex- girlfriend, Lisa
Brooks was at the hospital recovering from a self- inflicted gunshot wound
to the head.
He's accused of fatally shooting the 26- year- old when she came to his home
to pick up her things.
Brooks also faces charges of use of a firearm in a felony.
He's supposed to appear in court later this week.
For years, William "Dee" Stanley has been in and out of jail because of his

Stanley is charged with the malicious wounding of his 26- year- old son.
Authorities say they were called to the family's Franklin County home last
night... and found SCOTT Stanley suffering from multiple gun shot wounds.
He's currently listed in critical condition at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
At this point, the family's dealings with illegal liquor don't seem to have
any bearing on this case.

years, but now a proposal to increase the the flights' frequency and lower the
altitude has residents fighting mad.

The Air Force wants to increase the number of low-level flights from 66 a
year... to as many as twenty two hundred... and lower the altitude of some
flights to 300 feet.
Officials say it's unlikely they'll make that many flights, but they say
the training is essential to prepare pilots for battle in all types of terrain.
