Giles County authorities believe a shooting that took the life of a young
woman was accidental.
And ten years after he was freed from a California prison a convicted
rapist, but last night he was arrested for murder.

Sheriff's investigators say she was shot shortly before eight o'clock.
It happened in a mobile home off route 4-60 near the entrance to Mountain

Another suspicious death is under investigation in the Buffalo Mountain
section of FLOYD County.
The Sheriff's department discovered a body at a home on route 629.
Auto theft warrants have been issued for 18- year- old Mark Anthony Beavers
and 21- Year- old Jerry McKinney.
They're both in custody in WEST Virginia.
A car was apparently stolen from the home in the course of the murder.
A teen died in an accident on one of Danville's busiest roads last night.
It happened on Route 58 in front of Westover Baptist Church.
Police say 18- year- old Mary Bailey apparently pulled her station wagon
into the path of another car.
Witnesses say Bailey was crossing the road on her way to church.
Police say 15- year- old John Paul Bailey, a passenger in the station wagon,
died at the hospital.
Three others were also injured, but the extent of their injuries is not

Doctors say Taylor will remain in the hospital for three to five days after

In Memphis, a hearing is being held that will ultimately decide whether
James Earl Ray will stand trial for the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King.

There are NO formal plans to search for a new song.
Parents and teachers concerned about the problem of overcrowded schools
argue Bedford County is NOT doing enough.

The stock of a Roanoke County company has once again become a hot commodity
on Wall Street.

Optical Cable stock has been trading at more than 14 times its usual volume.
It's price has gone from the 10- dollar range to as much as 15- dollars.
Optical Cable C-E-O Bob Kopstein has several guesses for the stock's first
big run-up since last Summer.
A month ago he publicly stated the stock was undervalued.
He adds people may also be buying it because they want to purchase it before
it goes up any further.
