Some Roanoke College students are in trouble for allegedly taking part in a
This morning Roanoke County police arrested 13 students and four former
students on various charges, after an incident at Carvins Cove.
Officers found four students, blindfolded, lying face down in four to six
inches of water.
The police were told this was part of an exercise in bonding and learning to
trust each other.
No one was hurt.
All 17 people were charged with trespassing, ten with hazing and four with
being drunk in public.
College officials are investigating, for possible violations of the student

Drug Enforcement Officials say Leo Rivera-Ruiz had been the Cali Cartel's
cocaine connection in New York City.
He shipped thousands of kilos of coke at a time. Cruz actually worked for

Authorities in Nelson County are still trying to identify a body found in a

Cepada Wiley no longer faces a first degree murder charge.
Judge Robert Doherty threw the charge out this afternoon, saying the
Commonwealth had not proven premeditation.
Wiley has never denied killing Jesse Ferguson last July fourth, but says he
shot Ferguson to protect himself and his brother Ron.
Witnesses today testified Ferguson had a violent nature and attacked the
Wiley brothers when he found Ron with his ex-girlfriend.

Two employees and a customer at a Roanoke McDonald's feared the worst--
after they were momentarily trapped inside the restaurant with an armed

night, a customer went into the bathroom and found a man inside.
The man pointed a handgun at him.
While the customer struggled to escape, the gun went off.
The gunman came out of the bathroom waving the weapon.
He fled through the drive- up window.
Police say no one was hurt and no money was taken.
The man with the handgun hasn't been found.
It appears Botetourt County officials are bridging the gap between
