It was last August that authorities seized crack cocaine and guns from the
home of 74- year old William Bernice Smith and his wife Josephine, who has
since died.
At that time, police said they were eliminating a major crack source in the
New River Valley.

When Tim McGuire opened a pawn shop a couple of years ago, he wanted to
avoid stockpiling jewelry, T-V sets and other merchandise.
He figured he'd just lend money on vehicle TITLES, rather than take cars
themselves.
Last Fall, a judge in Richmond ruled that pawn shops can only accept
physical items... not vehicle titles.
The ruling could cost McGuire thousands of dollars, but he settled the case
without a fight.
