One gunman ran down the road firing shots- until he was fatally shot by

Police say in all hundreds of rounds were fired.
They're going door to door to make sure they did not miss anything or anyone
that may have been hit by gunfire.

It may have been snowing in Denver but Stephen Jones was a bit hot
under the collar.
The Dallas Morning News is reporting that his client, Oklahoma City
bombing defendant Timothy McVeigh, has confessed to his attorneys.
The paper says it obtained defense team notes that show McVeigh rejected
setting the bomb at night, instead opting for business hours because
his goal was a quote "body count."
The notes, according to the paper, also reportedly detail how McVeigh, with
help from co-defendant terry nicohols, obtained and mixed fertilizer with nitro
racing fuel, and then drove the massive homemade bomb by himself in the Ryder
truck to the Murrah federal building.
The story comes with McVeigh's trial just one month away. Jury questionaires
have already been sent out to people in Denver
where the trial will be held in federal court.
Lead defense attorney Jones says he does not believe that the
story will hurt McVeigh.

A jury deliberated for about six hours before finding a Halifax County man
guilty of first degree murder for killing his estranged wife.
The jury recommended life in prison for 37-year old Mark William Cole.
Cole's attorneys say he acted in the heat of the moment.
Cole was arrested last June for shooting and killing his wife Glenda,
outside the home they once shared.
Yesterday, Cole's five year old son testified for the prosecution.
Bradley Cole told the jury he saw his father abduct his mother shortly
before she was shot once in the head.

Managers at a Clifton Forge nursing home must wait until next week to find
out if the home passed its latest health department inspection.

For the last three days, health department officials have been inspecting
Shenandoah Manor to see whether the home is in compliance with state standards.
If it passes, the home could get re-certified for Medicaid funding.
In December, the home lost its funding because it failed inspection, forcing
some residents to move. Deborah Petrine is with the homes
management company- She met with health officials this afternoon.
Petrine says the home is border line for re-certification.
She won't know for sure until the health department releases its report
within the next 10 days.
A customer complaint lead to the closing of a Roanoke County restaurant
The fire marshal closed Chuckie E Cheese's on Electric Road around 8-30
because of fire hazards.
The restaurant is undergoing renovation.
Fire officials say part of the ceiling was out, lighting and heat ducts
were hanging down by wiring and light bulbs were touching plastic.

Unpaid parking tickets in Danville could cost a lot more for those who've
Beginning March 15th, Danville police will impound your car if you fail to
pay three or more parking tickets.
Police say the driver will not only have to pay the tickets but also the
cost of towing and storage.
The Department says it's decided to take on the new policy because the
problem of unpaid tickets is getting worse.
Sharon Yeagle is seriously considering appealing a judge's ruling in favor
of Virginia Tech's campus newspaper.
That's according to Roberts Moore, the lawyer representing Yeagle in her
lawsuit against the paper.
Yeagle, Tech's assistant to the vice president for student affairs sued
after The Collegiate Times identified her in an article by a ficticious and
unflattering job title.
The paper apologized and wrote a correction, which it blamed on a computer
template not meant for publication.
A judge ruled for the paper, saying the title was too absurd to be taken
The woman known as the cheerleader mom is out of prison-
after serving six months of a ten year sentence.
Wanda Holloway was so obsessed with getting her daughter on a cheerleading
squad- she tried to hire a hit man to kill the mother of a competing girl.
Now the woman who was the target wants Holloway to get psychiatric help-

Lynchburg public works has a new "weapon" in its snow fighting arsenal.
It's a "temperature gun".. a device that uses an infrared signal to measure
the temperature of road pavement.
Construction crews laying asphalt have used it for years, but only recently
has the technology been applied to Lynchburg's snow removal.
Officials say you just point and shoot... and immediately you know whether
the conditions are right for roads to freeze over.

The Defending state champion Minutemen of Liberty were ready for their game
against the Gretna Hawks.
In the first quarter, Liberty's Cheyney Preston makes the no look pass to
Robert Carson for the layup and Liberty took its first lead.
The Hawks get it out to Darrio Scott gets the slam but the Hawks still
trailed by four points.

Liberty and Salem advance to tomorrow night's title game and next

Radford and Liberty renewed their rivalry tonight in the semifinals of the

Radford came in looking to break a 16 year drought against the Flames in
the city of Lynchburg.
It looked as if the trend would continue early. Peter Aluma gets his shot
blocked but stays with it and gets the put back with the up and under. Aluma

Radford hung tough. Leslie Ballard strokes a triple, but the Highs trailed
by 11 at the break.
Liberty opened things up in the second half, leading by as many as 17.
Aluma starts the break with the reject, and Larry Jackson finishes it with the
Anthony Walker gutted out his last college game. He knocks in the second

The Southside tourist industry hopes it'll move into high gear now that the
area has officially been named "Virginia's Racing Region".
The state legislature has approved a measure that communities in Patrick,
Henry, Pittsylvania, and Halifax County have been requesting.
The area is home to two racetracks, plus several top drivers and racing
