Today federal officials arrived in Arkedelphia- the hardest hit area- where
373 homes and 45 businesses are damaged.
For folks living here- there's a big job ahead.
Most are sifting through what's left- salvaging what they can, and telling
the stories of how they survived..

Firefighters tried to rescue several children in a rowboat when the boat
was swept away.

Several published reports say rivals Norfolk Southern and C-S-X, both of
Virginia, have agreed to split up Conrail's most valuable northeastern routes.

Sheriff Kelly says if this marijuana had been divided up into small

train conductor in Pittsylvania County.
Authorities say it appears a b-b gun was used to shoot 40- year old Robin
Lynn Safrit (say-fritt) once in the upper back.
Safrit was riding in the front of the train when he was struck near Chatham
State police believe the shooting was not an accident-- but so far don't

Now a new non-surgical technique can help them and other men who have had

You know ever since a month before the NASCAR season started, Rusty Wallace
has been talking about winning a race.
Well, yesterday he finally won one and now no one can stop talking about him.
Hours after Wallace had celebrated his Pontiac Excitement win in Victory
Lane, NASCAR still hadn't declared him the official winner of the event.
Rusty's Ford engine failed the postrace compression test. In other words his
engine had more power than his competitors.
Wallace's people say they did not have an advantage and that they expect the

The engine was confiscated by NASCAR last night and their mechanics were to
