The Roanoke City Fire Department received the call around 8-30.

heaters.
And that the fill material is in compliance with state regulations.
But city officials confirm he hasn't been complying with other ordinances.

Residents say these silt ponds are a danger to their children and attract

Marlles says at this time the Erosion and sediment control ordinance which
covers these issues can only be enforced by court action.

Phillip Bane says once his 11 house project is finished property values will
rise and the city will gain tax dollars.
Residents and city officials will address concerns about this project Monday
night at Ridgewood Baptist Church.

shootout with police.

gunfight.
The standoff at Wayne Miller's eastern Georgia mobile home started yesterday
afternoon.
Agents remained outside the home overnight.
They tried to flush him out with tear gas this morning.
That's when the gunfire started.
A few hours later they determined Miller was dead.

David Lee Jones has been sentenced to 46 years in prison on second-degree
murder and two firearms charges for murdering his girlfriend last April.
Jones shot 17-year-old Marguerite Lynnelle Whitfield in the head on April
24th in her family's trailer at the Pine Acres Trailer Park in Hurt.
Before he was sentenced yesterday, the 22-year-old Jones apologized for
Whitfield's death, but said it was an accident.

Governor Allen is trying to prove that his administration is ready to enfore
new federal rules against underage smoking.
The Governor is pushing the General Assembly to speed up legislation giving
state alcohol agents the authority to enforce tobacco laws.
Allen wants to put the law into effect on April second, not July first,
which is the usual effective date for new laws.
The legislation not only gives liquore agents more authority, it doubles the
civil penalties for violations.

This afternoon in Hampton, Georgia Martin won the Power Tools 300 Busch race
finishing ahead of Elton Sawyer.
The victory gives Martin three in a row and he's only the fourth driver in
the series to post three straight wins.

men's Tennis tournament this weekend.
