In just about two hours the Hardy Road Civic Center in Bedford County burned to the ground.

The blaze broke out about 7:30...no one was injured, but again, but the building was destroyed. The community center is located right next to the volunteer fire department on Route 760 in Hardy.
Firefighters were concerned the fire station would also ignite, so they hosed down their own building.
There was some damage to the side of that building.
Fire officials don't know the cause of the blaze, but are investigating.
Hardy road was blocked for most of the evening.

The gunman's siege began a few blocks from the bank-- when he shot a man who was out jogging.
He then hijacked a car, drove to the bank and killed two people.
From there, he took a hostage, and killed him in the alley-- before he was brought down by police.
It was the second shootout at a bank in broad daylight in as many weeks.

The recommendation is likely to change the organization's guidelines which currently call for mammograms every two years.

The Tech women's coach for the past 19 years has in effect been dismissed.

Alfano's teams won 278 games and lost 262 in her nearly two decades of service.
