In just about two hours the Hardy Road Civic Center in Bedford County burned
to the ground.

The blaze broke out about 7:30...no one was injured, but again, but the
building was destroyed.
The community center is located right next to the volunteer fire department on
Route 760 in Hardy.
Firefighters were concerned the fire station would also ignite, so they
hosed down their own building.
There was some damage to the side of that building.
Fire officials don't know the cause of the blaze, but are investigating.
Hardy road was blocked for most of the evening.

Alfano's current four year contract expires on June 30th, and that will be
her last day on the job.
Alfano's teams won 278 games and lost 262 in her nearly two decades of
service.
In a two years spans from 1993 through 1195 the Hokies won 46 games, but they
slipped to 10-and-21 this season with a team that was hurt by injuries.
Athletic director Dave Braine says it is time to move in a new direction.
He says a search for her successor will begin immediately.
