The oldest section of the community center was built in the 1950s, and
eventually lead to creation of the fire department.
Members say they hope to rebuild.
They've arrested one of the owners of a night-club that burned to the
ground three years ago in Salem.
(Ah-mahd thee-ahb) Ahmad Thiab was apprehended as he got off a plane at
Dulles Airport this afternoon.
Last week's federal indictment charges (Thee-ahb) Thiab with hiring members
of the Abeb crime family to set fire to Mixer's Lounge.
(Thee-ahb) Thiab was the last of ten men apprehended.
They're named in a 30-page indictment handed up a week ago, outlining a
racketeering and arson scheme dating back to 1989 in the Roanoke Valley.
It's not patient care-- but a personnel matter that's leading to an
of the Salem V-A Medical Center's director.
John Presley recently placed ASSOCIATE director William (Della-meeter)
Delameter on administrative leave.
Now a V-A appointed panel is investigating PRESLEY.
No word yet on the exact what the review's about.
But officials say it is necessary because both Presley and Delameter hold
such high positions.

After an 11-hundred mile trek across Alaska... the winner of the 25th
running of the Iditarod emerged.
Martin Buser (Boozer) crossed the finish line in Nome, Alaska yesterday,
along with his team of 10 dogs.
The official time- nine days, eight hours and 31-minutes.
This is the third time Buser has won the Iditarod.

American chestnut trees have been a thing of the past in Appalachian forests
for more than 50 years.

and researchers are working together to revive the trees.
A blight wiped out American chestnuts in the early 1900's.
But researchers are trying to cultivate resistant seeds, which students are
