Lynchburg school officials say they'll need more than one million dollars MORE in local funding to run the city's schools next year.

So the mall's developer and Roanoke City are working together on a new 5-81 interchange that would funnel traffic directly to the mall.
Preliminary engineering studies have the four lane access road routed behind Tire America within 20 to 40 feet of the Huff Lane Magnet School.
That's too close for some parents.

A Halifax County man convicted of killing three people will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Raleigh Dean Martin could have received the death penalty, but today a judge sentenced Martin to life plus 48-years.
Prosecutors say Martin murdered his wife, Marion, before shooting and killing a couple who lived nearby.
Authorities say Joseph Siffert, Junior and his girlfriend, Barbara Hackney were shot to death inside their home.
The murders happened on the same night in November of '95.

Rescue crews used boats and divers throughout the weekend to continue searching for his body.

The fear the blaze would spread to nearby homes prompted officials to evacuate people.

The King of Rock and Roll that is.
Sid Shaw runs a shop called Elvisly Yours.
There he sells everything from Elvis Presley toothpaste and deodorant to photos and other trinkets.
But unlike the King's records, the store was not a big hit with the Presley Estate.
It sued, but today after a TEN YEAR battle, a British judge ruled in Shaw's favor.
He said since Elvis did not own his name when he was alive, his estate doesn't now that he is gone.
