Most are aggressively treated with cardiac catheterization, angioplasty or coronary bypass surgery to open clogged arteries.
But new research challenges the wisdom of those procedures in certain types of heart attacks.
Studying 920 patients at V-A hospitals, Dr. William Boden found people treated more conservatively with drug therapies--and a watchful waiting approach were 34-percent less likely to die in the long term.
