Authorities believe they've uncovered a mass suicide, near San Diego.

Sheriff's Deputies apparently stopped counting at ten bodies found in a
large mansion on a multi-million dollar estate near San Diego.

It's the exclusive community of Rancho Santa Fe-- it's known as the Beverly
Hills of San Diego.

The latest though, according to the Associated Press, next-door-neighbors
say deputies told them there are about 30 bodies in the home.
Other news accounts say there may be as many as 49 bodies reportedly found.
We'll have more, as details become available.
Federal authorities released a computer generated re-creation of what was
considered the worst air-craft disaster in Southwestern Virginia.
It's been three months since the Airborne Express cargo plane crashed.
Along with that video tape, the National Transportation Safety Board also
released a 300 page public docket on the disaster.
On December 22nd, the D-C-8 was TAKEN on a test run.
It took off from Greensboro, North Carolina and was headed to Ohio.
Problems started just minutes into the flight. After a half-hour in the
air, it slammedSUPER=03-Giles Co./December 1996;
head-on into East River Mountain near Narrows... killing all six people on
The docket contains a detailed summary of the flight as well as the
conversation between the pilot and the flight tower.
But at this point, the NTSB has NOT released the cause of the crash.
Bedford County authorities want help tracking down a suspect in an early
morning robbery in Forest.
The suspect entered the Quik-E food store around 1:45, acted as if he had
a weapon, and demanded money from the cashier.

The ex-wife of drug-informant Javier Cruz was in court today for the first
time in six years.
Pamela Cruz has been out on bond since she was first arrested and charged
in the sweeping drug indictment involving her husband and Leo Rivera.
She's charged- -along with several other lesser players- -in two counts of
conspiracy to import and distribute cocaine.
The 38-year old North Carolina resident pled NOT guilty today. She faces a
minimum 10-year sentence on each count if she's convicted.
A company known nationwide, is creating hundreds of new jobs in nearby
Aris Isotoner is a leading manufacturer of gloves and slippers.
It's moving into the East Bowles Distribution center on Route-29.
The company plans to initially employ 100-people at the Pittsylvania County
During peak season an additional 400-people will be needed.

It appears workers at the Kroger distribution center in Roanoke County WON'T
lose their jobs because of union seniority.
The supermarket chain is expanding its warehouse here and closing one in
Union rules dictate that many of the West Virginia workers get first shot at
the 125 new jobs being created here.
But Kroger says its current count of the transfer requests indicates none of
the Roanoke County workers will get bumped out of their jobs.

The Roanoke Valley Resource Authority has approved a budget that raises
landfill tipping fees for local governments, and lowers them for high-volume
With some commercial haulers now carrying waste out of state, revenues have
not matched expectations.
The Resource Authority hopes to reclaim some of that trash by offering
rebates to high volume haulers.

If the local governments approve the budget, the new rates will take
effect July first.
Many people now use the internet for shopping and other transactions.
But just how safe is such business?
Congressman Bob Goodlatte is proposing legislation which he says would
protect internet users, using a process called encryption.
That's a program which scrambles computer messages into an un-readable code
that only authorized readers can DE-code.
Goodlatte says his proposed Safe Act will protect privacy and prevent crime

But for the first time, Hill is seeing a new bee on his blooms, orchard
masons which hatched in specially- made houses placed in his orchard last Fall.
suOne benefit of the orchard masons is that they're much more efficient. It
only takes 250 to 750 of them to pollinate one acre in an orchard. It takes up
to 120 thousand honeybees to do the same job.

4-H'ers and students in Future Farmers of America at Carroll Intermediate
are making the houses for the second year.
They'll distribute 350 FREE through cooperative extension offices. They've
even gotten a SALE order, and hope the project will eventually pay for itself.

Pat Earles and her son Chuck are on a crusade to save a loved one--
They've been cited for violating a city ordinance against keeping swine-
but the owners of 70-pound "Porky" say they're not giving up.
After an unsuccessful plea to City Council, they've hired a lawyer.
Earles says the Vietnamese Pot-Bellied Pig is part of their family- and
doesn't bother anyone.

Tonight on Health Check-- new research says bone marrow transplants
intended to cure cancer can in some cases CAUSE cancer years later.
A study by the National Cancer Institute says the reason appears to be the
high doses of radiation that are necessary with the procedure.
The study will appear in tomorrow's New England Journal of Medicine.
Meantime, until more is understood with the implications of those findings--
the Marrow Donor Center of the Virginias continues its mission to boost the
bone marrow registry.
25-people die every day, unable to find a match for a bone marrow
Melissa Tickle received life-saving treatment five years ago.
Today, she met her donor for the second time.
A match isn't easy to find.
The National Marrow Donor Program had to go all the way to England to find

Radford University men's basketball coach Ron Bradley might be leaving the
Highlander program. Sources tell News 7 Sports late this evening that Bradley
interviewed for the coaching job at Indiana State university today.
Radford Sources say Bradley met with Indiana State athletic Director Larry
Gallo today about the job Sherman Dillard vacated to take the JMU post.
Dillard and Bradley both coached under Left Driesell at Maryland and are
said to be good friends.
Bradley was also interviewed for the Richmond job last Thursday. The
Highlanders were 15 and 13 this past season and were knocked out of the Big
South Tournament in the semi finals.
Dennis Rodman will miss the rest of the NBA regular season, not because of a
suspension, but because of injury to his left knee on a freak play last night.

The NHL has experienced its share of teams changing cities in the past five
years, and now they are about to deal with another such move.

The team has rejected an offer from the state to build the team a new 147-

the latest information on our top story--
39 bodies were discovered in what authorities are calling a mass suicide
near San Diego, California.
They are described as white males, ages 18 to 24.
Television stations in Los Angeles are reporting the body count close to 50
at the rented mansion in an exclusive area.
Neighbors say as many as ten middle-aged men and women appeared to
live in the rented home.
So far their causes of death has not been released...
