The National Transportation Safety Board still does NOT know what caused a deadly plane crash in Giles County last December.
But yesterday it revealed some insight.

Through computer animation, the N-T-S-B recreated the flight path of the ill- fated Airborne Express D-C-8.
It's clear the plane went through a number of twists and turns before nosediving into East River Mountain near Narrows.

According to a 300- page report, the crew was testing how the plane handled during a stall when it went down.
A few days after the crash, investigators all but ruled- out weather and maintenance as potential reasons for the accident.
Six people died in the crash.

In medical news-- new research says bone marrow transplants intended to cure cancer can in some cases CAUSE cancer years later.

A study by the National Cancer Institute says the reason appears to be the high doses of radiation that are necessary with the procedure.
The study appears in today's New England Journal of Medicine.

Authorities say they dispatched deputies to the scene after receiving an anonymous phone call.
A real estate agent trying to sell the hilltop mansion says the people inside referred to it as "their temple."

Federal authorities released a computer generated re-creation of what was considered the worst air-craft disaster in Southwestern Virginia.
It's been three months since the Airborne Express cargo plane crashed. Along with that video tape, the National Transportation Safety Board also released a 300 page public docket on the disaster.

On December 22nd, the D-C-8 was TAKEN on a test run.
It took off from Greensboro, North Carolina and was headed to Ohio.
Problems started just minutes into the flight. After a half-hour in the
air, it slammedSUPER=03-Giles Co./December 1996;

head-on into East River Mountain near Narrows... killing all six people on board.
The docket contains a detailed summary of the flight as well as the conversation between the pilot and the flight tower.
But at this point, the N-T-S-B has NOT released the cause of the crash.

But for the first time, Hill is seeing a new bee on his blooms, orchard masons which hatched in specially- made houses placed in his orchard last Fall. suOne benefit of the orchard masons is that they're much more efficient. It only takes 250 to 750 of them to pollinate one acre in an orchard. It takes up to 120 thousand honeybees to do the same job.

4-H'ers and students in Future Farmers of America at Carroll Intermediate are making the houses for the second year.
They'll distribute 350 FREE through cooperative extension offices. They've even gotten a SALE order, and hope the project will eventually pay for itself.
