The corporate parent of several area hospitals is under close federal

The New York Times reports that in Florida, Texas, Illinois, and Nevada,
F-B-I agents have been interviewing witnesses about Columbia H-C-A's alleged

The probe included the raid of several facilities in El Paso, where agents
left the building with truckloads of documents.
Among the items under investigation, the practice of "upcoding", in which
hospitals receive larger payments from Medicare by inflating the seriousness of
the illnesses they treat.
