News-7 Primetime's outlook here on WEFC could be improving, thanks to today's Supreme Court ruling UPHOLDING the 1992 must carry law.

But in some areas, the ruling does eliminate the pressure to drop local stations with smaller audiences in favor of more popular cable offerings.
For many small broadcasters, the ruling brings some peace of mind.
The station manager for WEFC said if Must Carry failed... "It would have put us at the mercy of the cable systems, It could have been pretty detrimental to our operation here."

Despite the ruling, many questions are still being raised-- including whether direct satellite broadcasters have to follow the same Must Carry rule as cable?
If the FCC says yes, it could delay efforts to put local stations on satellite t-v...and that's welcome news to the Cable industry.
