The Forest Service estimates anywhere from 80 to one-hundred acres of national forest suffered what's described as "surface burn".
The fire began yesterday near a popular hiking spot called "Dragon's Tooth".
The blaze did not cause any major injuries, and there are no reports of any property damage.
Investigators believe a campfire started it all.

Gilmore's finally issued a legal opinion on how last October's minimum wage increase affects Virginia's "tipped workers."
Gilmore says they will stay at four-25 an hour, where the federal law froze them when it upped other workers' wages to four-75 an hour.
And that four-25 can include tips... making the actual paid wage from the employer much lower.
The opinion is good news for restaurant owners.

They say they lost their jobs because of political reasons.

Inez (IN-ez) Sales and Debra Miller served under former registrar Linda Arnold, who was ousted in March of 1995 by the city's Republican- controlled electoral board.
Arnold, who is a Democrat, sued the board, claiming she was fired purely for political reasons, which is illegal in Virginia.
She won a 300- thousand dollar settlement after agreeing not to seek re- instatement.
But now Arnold's two assistants are suing for 300- thousand dollars each, AND they want their jobs back.
The case got underway today in U-S District Court in Lynchburg.
It's expected to last through Friday.

Just as cold in Toronto today but they were in the Sky dome as the Jays hosted the White Sox.
This was Albert Belle first game with the Sox and as baseball's highest paid player.
And he did not disappoint - hitting a double and homer and driving in three runs to lead the Sox to a 6-to-5 win in 10 innings.
Folks, Carlos Delgado had a great game for the Jays in a losing cause. He hit this homerun off the glass windows way up in the center field.

Over in the national league this afternoon, the Cincinnati Reds ripped the Colorado Rockies at Riverfront stadium.
Former Salem Buc Willie Greene hit a two run homer as the Reds take their opener 11-to-4.

The team arrived in Salem late last night from spring training in Tucson, Arizona.
