But prosecutor Phil Keith says the crash was fully investigated, and the evidence is clear it was a direct result of Chaffin, intoxicated, crossing the center line.
After the wreck Chaffin's family says he steered clear of alcohol, and had drank only some non-alcoholic beer when he was AGAIN charged with D-U-I two months later.
But a police report states Chaffin smelled strongly of alcohol and failed a field sobriety test. Tracy Altizer, News 7.))

A northern Virginia man charged with racketeering here in the Roanoke Valley will remain in jail for the time being.
Today, a federal judge refused to release Abed Jalil Jamil (AH-bed juh-LEAL juh-MEAL) on bond.

Gilmore says they will stay at four-25 an hour, where the federal law froze them when it upped other workers' wages to four-75 an hour.

The opinion's good news for restaurant owners.

Former CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite is resting comfortably after quadruple bypass surgery today.

The 80 year old news legend discovered he had coronary artery problems during a routine check- up.
The four hour surgery was successful.
Cronkite anchored the CBS Evening News for 19 years.
Since he retired in 1981 he has produced and appeared in documentaries for CBS, PBS and the Discovery Channel.
