A second charge of driving under the influence of alcohol lands a man behind
bars without bond.
Meanwhile, the family of the victim who died in an accident from Timothy
Scott Chaffin's FIRST D-U-I tries to pick up the pieces.

sons when a drunk driver struck his car head- on.
The 27 year- old school custodian died on impact, leaving his family,
especially his boys struggling with the loss.

But what's even harder for Burton's family to understand is what they see
as a lack of remorse on the part of the other driver, 23 year- old Timothy
Chaffin was freed on bond after the accident, in which is blood alcohol
content was .19, more than twice the legal limit.
Less than two months later on March 15th, Floyd County authorities charged
him with a SECOND D-U-I.

After convicting Chaffin in the January D-U-I, the judge also sent an
involuntary manslaughter charge to the grand jury and ordered him held without

Another long slow day of jury selection is on tap at the bombing trial of
Courtroom observers say McVeigh never flinched when a prosecutor asked the
jury if they could sentence him to death if convict. Five of the six
prospective jurors said they could.
So far, only a handful of the victims' family members have shown up to watch
the trial on closed circuit television...
They say the emotions are tough to handle.

Jury selection is expected to drag on for another week. The trial itself is
expected to last several months.

Investigators are getting a glimpse of life inside the Heaven's Gate cult.

The majority of pets taken away from animal breeder Valery Green have found
Officials seized more than 100 dogs and cats from Green when she was found

The daughter of a man found dead in his home says she does NOT think her
eight- year- old step-brother is capable of committing the crime.
Sherry Rosser's father, Bernard Rosser, was found dead in his Gretna home on
Police charged the man's stepson in the killing.
But Sherry Rosser told The Roanoke Times an autopsy showed her father died
after at least two blows to the head.
She said the report indicates the first blow could have been fatal -- and
she does not think an eight- year- old could kill a grown man with one strike.

The next battleground on both the state and federal level is a ban on
so-called partial birth abortions.
Small television stations have a guaranteed place on cable.
The U-S Supreme Court narrowly upheld a 19-92 law know as "Must Carry", that
requires cable operators to carry all local stations.
But the ruling could have other implications.

(( Fiberoptics and digital compression give cable companies many more
channels to fill.
A Cox Communication spokesperson says they have no problem carrying all
local stations along with other cable programming.
But in some areas, the ruling does eliminate the pressure to drop local
stations with smaller audiences in favor of more popular cable offerings.
For many small broadcasters, especially public television stations, the
ruling still brings some peace of mind.

The station manager for religious broadcaster WEFC said if Must Carry
"It would have put us at the mercy of the cable systems, It could have been
pretty detrimental to our operation here."
The ruling improves the outlook for programs like News Seven Prime-time,

One big question that remains... should direct satellite broadcasters have
to follow the same Must Carry rule as cable?
If the FCC says yes, it could delay efforts to put local stations on
