I'm not a rocket scientist, but I think I'm fairly well educated and I felt like I was taken to the cleaners the last time around and this time I feel like I did it on a more educated basis.
TRACK What Ira did was pay a $290 fee for "Leasewise" - a service from Consumers Checkbook Magazine, a DC based nonprofit organization.

SOT-Dorfman

If I had gone back to the dealer I used the first time, it would have cost us 50 dollars more a month.
TRACK On a 3-and-a-half year lease, that works out to a savings of 2,100 dollars! What you get is a written report that identifies the best lease plan near you. Here's how it works: You decide on the make, model, style, lease term and yearly mileage of the car or truck you want.
Leasewise gets 5 dealers in the area to bid against one another. First negotiation, the vehicle price.

SOT-Ellis

Most lease ads are based on sticker, you don't want to be paying sticker for a car.
TRACK Next, the interest rates and fees. Leasewise gets the dealer to lock in on the entire lease package.
And finally, the comparison, to see which dealer is the cheapest. You get two calculations, depending on whether you plan to purchase the car or turn it back at the end of the lease.

SOT-Ellis

I think the key thing is to really evaluate what your needs are, know how many miles you really drive a year. Excess mileage charges will kill you on a lease.
