An accident involving a school bus and a car in Montgomery County injured
one student this afternoon.
The driver of the car was killed.
It happened in a curve on Bishop Road.
A Toyota Camry struck Montgomery County bus number- one ...almost head- on.
State police have not released the name of the driver, who died at the
A 12 year- old girl was taken to the hospital with a bloody nose and neck
The other students were able to go home with their parents, and the bus
driver was not hurt.
The 13 students were on their way home from Blacksburg Middle and Blacksburg
Hillsville police say it appears the shooting death of a 16 year- old girl
yesterday was accidental.
Andrea Dalton was hit by the spray from one round her father fired from a
sawed- off shotgun.
The INTENDED victim was her mother, 36 year- old Audrey Dalton, who was shot
in the face and died instantly.
Police had met Audrey and her daughters at the family's mobile home to
collect some belongings.
After finding the doors locked and getting no answer from anyone inside,
police chief Kenny Sharpe walked back within three feet of Audrey to escort her
to the door.
The shooting and standoff, and Donnie Dalton's suicide left him shaken.

He could tell if they were married or whether they had live- in boyfriends.
And in some cases he could predict when the women would be home.
This morning, the 36- year- old letter carrier admitted to stalking some of

"This is a preposterous allegation," Frith told the U-S Magistrate today. He
challenged the government prosecutor to "prove it."

This afternoon a group of concerned citizens gathered for a lunch time
prayer service in Lee Plaza.
Earlier this week a 23-year old man allegedly shot his former girlfriend and
her mother at a Roanoke apartment complex.
Participants in the prayer service say these killings prove the Roanoke
Valley is in need of prayer.

A federal judge has thrown out a lawsuit from two former assistant voter
registrars from Lynchburg who claimed they were fired because of their

The Monacans are going forward.
They raised more than 65- thousand dollars to renovate their old schoolhouse
and have begun collecting artifacts and photographs to form a tribal museum, in
hopes of attracting tourists to this remote section of the county.

Sweet Briar College is hoping to change that perception.
