A short time later, they recovered the body of his wife, 36 year-old Audrey Dalton.
Police had escorted her to the trailer to collect some belongings.
They found it quiet and assumed Donnie Ray had done what he was told, to stay away till 6pm.
As Audrey approached, gunshots rang out.

The flames were apparently sparked by a Norfolk Southern train... because the fire followed the trail of the railroad tracks.
Forestry officials say the malfunction was likely caused by either faulty brakes or a problem with the smoke stack.
Apparently this is nothing new.
Firefighters say this is the third time in the past week something like this has happened... just not to this extent.

An 80-foot fall from a train trestle into the James River sent a Bedford County woman to the hospital yesterday.

It happened on the railroad bridge between Amherst County and Lynchburg.
22- year- old Amanda Shackelford and 23- year- old Gabriel Forest were walking across the trestle when a southbound Norfolk Southern train approached.
Witnesses say the two tried to outrun the train but Shackelford tripped and fell about 80-feet into the river.
She is listed in satisfactory condition this afternoon.

An ex- convict and graffiti artist is charged in the rape and beating of the nine- year- old Chicago girl, known only as "Girl X".

Sykes allegedly pulled her into a vacant apartment in the housing project where both lived.

The jury recommended yesterday that Angela Light serve eight years in prison for killing Clyde Price Junior.
The 25- year- old Light claimed she shot Price to kill him -- but did it in self defense.

One student from each public high school will receive a one- year, one thousand- dollar award to attend Tech.
Students must meet academic, leadership and community service requirements.
Long-time Tech benefactors, Robert Pamplin, Senior and his son Robert Pamplin, Junior have donated three-and- a- half million dollars for the endowment.
The remaining funds will come through other private donations.

State education officials say only four state-supported four-year universities are meeting guidelines on classroom use.
The guidelines are used to determine whether a school will receive money to build new classrooms.
The universities that put the most students in a classroom for the most hours in a day are George Mason, James Madison, Virginia Commonwealth and Virginia Tech.
State officials say the Virginia Military Institute ranks last on the list of classroom use.

Good news for job seekers-- the government says there are FEWER of you.
The Labor Department says UNemployment fell to five- point- two percent last month-- dropping a tenth of a percent.
The department also says employers reported 175- thousand jobs added to business payrolls.
Meanwhile, average hourly earnings rose four- tenths of a percent.

Medical personnel at the track said Craven suffered a concussion, a possible broken left shoulder and a possible ruptured eardrum. He also complained of chest pains.
