Three people dead in yet another domestic incident of murder-suicide.

It first happened in Roanoke, then Hillsville and now Campbell County...
three times in a week, domestic disputes have ended in tragedy.

double murder and suicide..
Keith, authorities say it's been happening far too frequently the last few
weeks... a family argument starts with words but ends in gunfire.

(( This was an argument that started sometime Sunday... police say Hazel and
Joe Bohannon had been fighting with their 24- year- old son Barry Wayne
Bohannon and the dispute carried over into Monday morning.
But authorities say Barry Bohannon
put a stop to it when he grabbed a shotgun, shot his mother and father, then
turned the weapon on himself.
William Campbell was outside, just a few hundred yards away, when he heard
the shots and called police.

steps.. her son Barry just a few feet away, having fallen on top of his
Joe Bohannon's body was discovered just inside the basement door.

A daughter, 21- year- old Sandra, was able to escape the house unharmed.))
Police say Barry Wayne Bohannon had received psychiatric treatment in the

They also note this has been an especially violent month for them.. in
Campbell County alone, a dozen people have been murdered or committed suicide
in the last few weeks. Keith?
A Roanoke woman was fatally injured in a collision in Roanoke County this
County police say 21-year-old Mary Ann Richards pulled into Brambleton
Avenue, about 10-A-M.
Her car was hit broadside by a Jeep.
She was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where she later died.
Rescue workers used the "jaws of life" to get the Jeep driver out. He was
also taken to the hospital; no word on his condition.
Police say Richards was at fault; no charges will be filed.
A Lynchburg school administrator is out of a job. But will NOT spend time in
jail for having phone sex with a 17- year- old student.
E-C Glass Athletic Director Frank Murray pled guilty today to contributing
to the delinquency of a minor.
Investigators say Murray and the girl had a two- year relationship that
included some limited physical contact and phone calls. The two would talk
about imaginary sexual situations.
Prosecutors offered a plea agreement to avoid a long trial.

Murray received a 90- day suspended jail term.
He has resigned from his job at E-C Glass High School.
More than 250 acres of a Rockbridge County mountain have already been
scorched by flames.
And in order to get the blaze under control, forestry officials must now
fight fire with fire.
Control lines have been built around the blaze... and soon fire fighters
will start a controlled burn.
No homes are in immediate jeopardy, but officials say it is still a

The cause of the blaze is in question. But investigators think it could
have been ignited by a bolt of lightning nearly a week ago.
Fire officials say the area could have smoldered for a number of days before

build a 22- million- dollar plant off route 460 in northeast Roanoke.

Before this scenario could become a reality, it took an extra effort from
Roanoke Mayor David Bowers, who had to make a personal plea to Governor Allen
for incentive money.
The city's request for the dough had been turned down by Virginia's economic
development department four times before the Mayor picked up the phone.

Governor Allen explained to us that the state rarely gives companies
additional incentives if they're locating in an enterprise zone, which has its
own set of grants and benefits.

The man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and her mother may face the
A grand jury returned six indictments against Miguel Ortiz today.
Ortiz is accused in the shooting deaths of Sharon and Deborah Casey.
The charges include first degree murder and Capital Murder, which leaves the
door open for prosecutors to seek the death penalty.
Ortiz was shot by police at the end of a two- hour standoff last week.
He remains in the hospital in serious condition.

Gibriel and his partner, Ahmad Thiab, took the insurance company to court
last Fall for failure to make good on a 200-thousand dollar policy.
At THAT trial, one witness testified that Gibriel told him he paid someone
2-thousand dollars to have the fire set... then threatend to "drink his blood
and the blood of his brother" if the story was repeated.
Judge Sam Wilson found no "overwhelming evidence that Gibriel was involved
in the fire itself."
He set bond at 100-thousand dollars.
Members of a Roanoke family are fighting to keep their pot- bellied pig.
Today, they pleaded with members of city council to change the ordinance
they're acused of violating.
City Council heard from Pat Earls, the Roanoke woman who has promised to
fight the city's prohibition of pigs.
This afternoon, she argued that her son's pig is a better pet than most
dogs or cats.

Members of council did not offer any relief to Earls, but they did discuss
the possibility of a cut in the real estate tax rate.
Council asked city manager Bob Herbert to come up with a budget proposal
that would include a one- cent reduction.

Coleman Andrews will take his Republican campaign for lieutenant governor to
22 localities over the next four days.

A Roanoke Valley minister who worked to ease tensions between the city's
police department and its minority residents has died.
The Reverend Alfred Prunty was pastor of Slate Hill Baptist Church.
He served as co- chairman of Roanoke's Community Relations Task Force.
That group encouraged community policing and urged the city to step up its
efforts to hire more black officers.
Prunty died Sunday in a Richmond hospital. He was 71 years old.
For the third straight year, cadets from Virginia Military Institute are
trying to make their community a better one.
In all, there were 14 projects in and around Lexington... like this one at
the Glen Maury Park in Buena Vista.
Here, a dozen cadets planted about 70 trees.
