Parents like Michele Kernan are having a hard time understanding why her Board of Supervisors have asked the School Board to cut its budget by more than 2 million dollars.
If full funding is not granted, teacher pay raises will be sliced and no new school busses will be purchased.
Parents say it would be one thing if the county was financially strapped.
But they say that's not the case.
Parents point to money that will be pumped into Botetourt Center at Greenfield and the rebuilding of the Eagle Rock bridge.
But they're most intrigued by the 14 million dollars sitting in the county's reserve fund.
They wonder why some of that money can't be transferred over to the schools.
