But officials say a serious situation was avoided by the quick actions of a
small crew of fire fighters.

High winds worried fire officials and prevented a plane from dropping
chemicals on the blaze.
About 20 acres have been consumed.

a trial in federal court.
Gloria Dowe sued TAP, claiming she was a victim of racial discrimination,
after nearly three decades of employment at the anti-poverty agency.
Chief Judge Jackson Kiser granted a summary judgment today in favor of TAP.
The judge's order refers to a forthcoming "written opinion" that'll explain
why he threw out Dowe's claim today.
It had been set for trial next week.

El Salvador.
Alcides Monges has been living in Danville for about seven years while
attempting to secure citizenship.
He recently married a Danville woman and thought that would secure his place
here in the U-S.
But marriage apparently does NOT guarantee citizenship.
Monges was told this week he'd have to return to his native country and was
jailed in Winchester for violating the order.
Monges' wife and family have appealed to Virginia lawmakers for help.
