A one car accident in Montgomery County today claims the life of a
teenager.
Police say Monica Ruth Stevens of Troutville was speeding on Alleghany
Springs Road when she lost control of her car.
The 18-year old ran off the right side of the road then overcorrected and
veered off the left side of the road.
The Cadillac she was driving hit a tree and the car overturned.
Stevens died at the scene.

of Leonard Peltier--a Native American prisoner.
Peltier is serving two life sentences for the 1975 murder of two government
agents in South Dakota.
But, some consider him to be a political prisoner.
Today, the Native American Program, a student organization at Virginia Tech,
held a rally and march through part of Blacksburg.
The group is hoping the event will spark a flood of letters to the President

today.
