Marine One cut through a crystal clear sky, as President Clinton took a first
hand look at the watery remains of Grand Forks. The city of 50-thousand is now
a collection of empty homes, farms and businesses-- empty, except for the
relentless Red River, which now fills some buildings up to their roofs. There
was bright sunshine today, the only thing left for mother nature to offer
after dumping ice, snow, cold, wind, fire and water on this place, all in just
the past month.

IN A BLIZZARD, THOUGHT MY TV RECEPTION WAS BAD.

their home floating away. It hasn't quite done that, but they can't get to
their home just yet, and are fearful of what they'll find when they do.

At the nearby Air Force base, the president visited with local officials,
including Grand Forks mayor Pat Owens, who has lived her peoples' pain for

Gunfire and explosions have erupted at this hour at the Hostage compound in
Lima.
These pictures come to us just moments ago from the Japanese ambassador's
residence in Lima.
Heavy smoke is coming from the compound.
It appears Peruvian soldiers stormed the compound- and may have freed some of
the hostages.
Soldiers can be seen surrounding the building and inside the compound.
40 hostages have been freed... 70 have been held by rebels since December.
Tupoc Amaro rebels were holding the hostages while demanding the release of
their jailed comrades.

A Bedford County judge says convicted killer (Yens Sir-ing) Jens Soering
does NOT deserve a new trial.
Soering was convicted in 1990 of the murders of his girlfriend's parents,
Derek and Nancy Haysom.

might have cleared HIM.
But judge William Sweeney ruled there was "no" evidence to show that two men

Another study conducted in London used M-R-I's-- and found that the brains
of pregnant women actually shrank in size but returned to normal six to ten
