The conviction will stand.
That's the ruling from a Bedford County judge over Jens Soering's request for a new trial.
Soering was convicted of killing his girlfriend's parents in 19-90, and claims the prsectution withheld evidence that could clear him.

Soering says the jury should have been told about two drifters who murdered a Roanoke man one week after Derek and Nancy Haysom were killed in 19-85.
The former U-V-A scholar says the fact that Bedford authorities questioned the two men might have provided the jury with a reasonable doubt as to HIS guilt.
But Judge Sweeney ruled yesterday there was NO connection between the two crimes, making the drifters story inadmissable at trial.

From the elegant set to the professionalism of even the smallest roles, Showtimers does a fine job with their current production, "Rebecca".
The story is archetypal romantic suspense, and it's a ripping good tale.
Michael Mansfield is the handsome and wealthy Maxim DeWinter who marries a sweet young thing--Alexis K. Black--and take sher home to his estate, Manderly. A place still haunted by Maxim's first wife, Rebecca, who drowned ten months earlier.
Young Mrs. DeWinter is out her depth intimidated by her new role in life and by the servants, particularly the cold and aloof Mrs. Danvers played by Stephanie Rowe.
Maxim doesn't understand her fears.
Some of the best performances come from the supporting cast who are all excellent.
The play drags a little bit at times, but overall is engaging and enjoyable.

"Rebecca" is directed by Jenefer Davies and continues through April 27 at the Showtimers Studio on McVitty Road.
