A Blacksburg night club is in the spot-light but not for its good entertainment.

SUPER=03-Blacksburg/Last Night;

Local members of the N-DOUBLE-A-C-P were outside Club 221 last night, urging people not to patronize the establishment.
The club was just re-named--until recently it was known as Impaxx.
Some former employees say owner Martha Curry told workers the bar was attracting too many black customers.
On one occasion Curry allegedly told an employee to only let in well dressed white people.
Curry was not available for comment last night; she previously said she will admit young people to the club only if they have a college I-D.
Her claim is backed up by another group of employees who held a small protest of their own last night.
The situation was discussed today at a meeting of the Montgomery County Human Relations Council.

Red Belcher is at work building a no- till planter.
It doesn't look especially complicated or high- tech, but it's impact on farming may be immeasurable.

Here's why. Instead of removing the sod layer as in traditional tilling, B&B's planter leaves it in tact.

Hundreds of spectators cheered as a 54-foot Viking ship replica was launched today.
In June, the ship will retrace Viking explorer Leif Ericsson's 18-hundred mile journey from Greenland to Newfoundland.
The twelve crewmembers expect the trip to take six-to-eight weeks. (----------------)
