A Blacksburg night club is in the spot-light but not for its good
Allegations of RACISM are prompting protests.
Local members of the N-DOUBLE-A-C-P were outside Club 221 last night, urging
people not to patronize the establishment.
The club was just re-named--until recently it was known as Impaxx.
Some former employees say owner Martha Curry told workers the bar was
attracting too many black customers.
On one occasion Curry allegedly told an employee to only let in well dressed
Curry was not available for comment last night; she previously said she will
admit young people to the club only if they have a college I-D.
Her claim is backed up by another group of employees who held a small
protest of their own last night.
The situation was discussed today at a meeting of the Montgomery County
Human Relations Council.

A republican is accusing George Allen's administration of "cutting the heart
out of higher education" in the Commonwealth.
John Chichester--a state senator who co-chairs the Senate Finance
Committee--made the comment amid MORE criticism of Allen for the firing of
Davies headed the State Council of Higher Education for 20 years...and was
just let go by Allen's appointees to the Council.
Speaking to reporters in Roanoke this week, Allen said: "It's not as if he

Now, modern-day adventurers are hoping to repeat that voyage.
