A bicyclist is struck and killed by tractor trailer in Lynchburg.
GOod Evening you're watching NEWS-7 Primetime on WEFC.
I'm Connie Stevens.
The investigation is still underway in this afternoon's accident.
Around 4:15, this Peterbilt tractor trailer was headed south on Route 501
when it reportedly struck a woman riding her bicycle in the same direction.
The woman.. who police believe was in her 20's or 30's.. was thrown from the
bike and killed instantly.
A medic crew transported the 71- year- old truck driver to the hospital..
police said he was emotionally shaken by the accident.
The identities of both the cyclist and the driver have not been released.
No word yet on whether any charges will be filed.
The investigation into the murder of 57 year-old (Es-tull) Estel Singleton
Singleton was found shot to death Wednesday at the Ironto rest area.
Today police returned to the scene to use Roanoke County's state-of-the-art
crime scene mapping device, one of only two in the state.
And they joined forces with state police and Montgomery County sheriff's
deputies to scour the area for any evidence that may have been overlooked.

A Salem High School physical education teacher is accused of assaulting one
of his students.
According to police, the incident happened last week on this field.
The student.. whose identity is not being released... says he was playing

when he was kicked in the leg by 49- year- old Walter Braine.
The student did NOT require medical attention.
Braine is also the school's soccer coach.
His employment status with Salem is not clear---superintendent Wayne Tripp
will only say Braine is "not on the job at this time."

The American Psychiatric Association has released guidelines designed to

The Association wants physicians to start writing prescriptions-- telling
their Alzheimer's patients not to drive.
California is the only state that requires doctors to report Alzheimer's
patients to the D-M-V, so authorities can consider revoking their license.
The recommendation may be important-- as a recent Scandinavian study
published in the Lancet, looked at the brains of elderly car crash victims.
They found a third of them showed clear evidence of Alzheimer's Disease.
