The judge in the Earl Bramblett murder trial spent all afternoon hearing
evidence from psychiatric experts on the suspect's mental state.
The hearing is closed to the public.
Before it's over, though, the judge has indicated he'll decide whether
Bramblett is competent to stand trial.

Craig and his son had been doing some construction work in the area.
Craig reportedly told his son he did not see the train coming.
The engineer told police he was traveling about 22 miles an hour, well under
the 40 mile an hour limit for that stretch of track.
Trains are NOT required to sound a warning at private crossings.
The accident is still under investigation.
Franklin County officials are still trying to figure out what sparked a
morning fire that destroyed a farm house.
Two adults and their SEVEN children lived in this two story house.
Only three people were home when the fire started...they escaped unharmed.
But nothing inside the house was saved.

A Roanoke woman is in critical condition after last night's fire at the
Melrose Towers apartments last night.
The blaze started in Veda (VEEDA) Linkswiler's seventh floor apartment.
Authorities say Linkswiler was on oxygen, and the fire may have been sparked
by a cigarette.
It's been five days since two Spotsylvania County sisters were last seen.
Now authorities are turning to the public for help.
Spotsylvania County is north of Richmond.
15 year-old Kristin Lisk and her 12-year old sister Kati haven't been seen
since Thursday afternoon.
The F-B-I is now looking for information about a white Ford pick up truck
seen near their home soon after school let out that day.

Simpson's lawyers say it was consensual sex.
They plan to appeal.
Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson has blessed Jim Gilmore's campaign for
governor with 50-thousand dollars.
But now Gilmore's being asked to issue a legal opinion on a recent Robertson
Reston Democratic Senator Janet Howell has requested an offical Attorney
That's after Robertson used his "Operation Blessing" medical ministry planes
to assist his diamond mining business.
A Robertson spokesman says the non-profit charity was reimbursed by the
diamond- mining company.
So Howell's asking Gilmore to determine if any laws governing charitable
contributions were broken...and if contributors were defrauded.
A spokesman for Gilmore says the opinion request will be considered fully.

Members of Roanoke City Council have voted to reduce one tax, impose
another, and raise their own salaries.
Council won't take a final vote on the budget until next monday.
But during budget study today, members approved a one- cent reduction in
the real estate tax rate.
They voted to impose a tax on cellular phone service, that would collect up
to three dollars per line per month.
They also approved a five thousand dollar salary increase for the mayor,
and two thousand dollar increases for each of the council members.

The Christiansburg Rescue Squad hopes its new building will help attract new
The crew ran calls out of its new squad building on Depot Street for the
first time today.
It's upgraded from five vehicle bays to 12, and includes expanded meeting
and classroom space and a newly- furnished day room among other extras.

Officers were were able to get the mother duck out- and then using nets with
long handles- the ducklings were also brought to safety.
The incident brought traffic to a stop.
