Experts in child abduction develop a suspect profile in the case of two
young girls found dead in the South Anna River.

Divers waded through muddy river water today looking for clues in the
disappearance and death of two young girls from Spotsylvania County.
State highway workers mowing along a country road spotted the two bodies
about five o'clock yesterday in the South Anna River.
The bodies were tentatively identified as 15-year-old Kristine Lisk and her
12-year-old sister-- Kati.
The two disappeared last Thursday right after they got home from school.
The F-B-I's Child Abduction and Serial Killer Unit released a profile of the

The fire department plans to tighten up a hall- monitor plan where

lieutenant governor and attorney general.
Our latest NEWS-7/Mason-Dixon poll puts former Democratic Congressman L.F.
Payne on top in the Lieutenant Governor's race.
Payne pulls a 36- percent to Republican John Hager's 30- percent.
But 34- percent of likely voters are still undecided.
The poll came two days after Republican Coleman Andrews dropped out of the

Home Depot confirms it's "seriously looking" in the Roanoke area.
A source familiar with the situation says Home Depot basically has an option

contract extension, there's been some moving and shaking today on the Radford
University basketball front.
And we'll have several tennis items for you including a preview of the
upcoming Lu Merritt Open right here in the valley.
The Roanoke Express board of directors has voted to extend the contract of
head coach and SS=Frank Anzalone
director of hockey operations Frank Anzalone by one year.
The extension is under his existing agreement which has one year remaining.
He now has a contract through the 1998-99 season with an undisclosed but
increased level of compensation for that season.
Anzalone is the only coach of the Express as the franchise heads into it's
fifth season. Roanoke has had a winning season in each of the organizations
four years under Anzalone compiling a 150-101 and 25 regular season record.
In other coaching news tonight, wake Forest has hired Charlene Curtis as the
university's new women's head basketball coach.
Charlene, who is a William Fleming graduate,
coached the women at Radford University from 1984 to 1990 - producing 121 wins
over that period.
She also was a star player at RU, and she is charter member of Radford's
sports hall of fame.
She has been an assistant at U-Conn for the past couple of years, and before
that she was the head coach at Temple.
Radford University women's standout basketball player Kim Hairston will not
play for the Lady Highlanders this coming season.

Hairston, who played high school basketball at Bassett, has decided to
leave Radford after this school year. Sources say the rising junior was unhappy
at RU and that she has contacted several schools to inquire about transferring.

season; she lead the Lady Highlanders in scoring with 12.9 points per game.
The Boston Celtics got their man Rick Pitino yesterday, but it now looks like
they are ready to lose Larry Bird.
Reports in Boston and Indianapolis today say Bird will accept an offer to
coach the Indiana Pacers and then take over as the club's director of
Bird has never coached in the NBA, but the Pacers are ready to pay him $4
million a season. The formal announcement should come on Friday.
