"Picasso at the Lapin Agile" is a comedy, but not the wildly funny piece one would expect from writer/comedian Steve Martin-he of happy feet and the Czechoslovakian Brothers.

This is a thoughtful fantasy about art and genius set in a Paris bistro in the year 1904.
The themes are played out through conversations among a group of people that includes a young Picasso, Terrance Flynn, and an equally young and exuberant Albert Einstein-Bruce Racond.
The supporting players are strong, particularly Kim Martin-Cotton as the lusty Germaine.
Philip Davidson as the elderly Gaston, and the lovely Brooke Simpson.
The play is talky and ironic. More lightly charming than hilariously funny.
"Picasso at the Lapin Agile"--directed by Jere Hodgin, doesn't really go anywhere, but it is pleasant to be in this intelligent company for an evening.
The show continues through May 25 at Mill Mountain Theater's main stage.
