A fatal accident at a Tazewell County coal mine--
One man died and another was injured in a massive roof fall at the mine.
Authorities say the death was the first mining fatality in Virginia this
year.
The roof fall, one of the most common types of mining accidents, was
reported in the Solus Coal Number one mine in the Middle Creek section of Cedar
Bluff Thursday.
Thirty-five- year- old Thomas Layne Kinder of Cedar Bluff was trapped by an
initial roof collapse and probably died after a second fall.
Another miner, was rescued after the first roof fall.
