The man facing death for the murder of Roanoke County real-tor Carolyn Rogers is asking a federal judge to reverse his conviction.

Danny King's appeal has already been rejected by the Virginia Supreme Court.
Today King's attorneys argued that the court should have reversed the conviction, because police investigators ignored King's request for a lawyer when interrogating him.
An attorney for the Commonwealth says King never clearly asked for an attorney and even if he had, he never confessed to police.
Judge Samuel Wilson did not rule on the matter today.

On the high school diamond, Floyd County and Glenvar earned automatic berths in the regionals today with semi-final wins in the Three Rivers baseball tournament.

In the opener, Glenvar - the tournament's top seed - battled Radford. In the bottom of the fifth with the game tied at 4, Glenvar's Elijah Harlow smacks this Bud Redden pitch to center field. a bad throw and Harlow comes on home with a homerun and the Highlanders took a 5-4 lead.
With the bases loaded; Glenvar's SUPER=34-Glenvar/13/Radford/4;

Brett Willet knocks one to center; scoring John Kassebaum from third base. Brian Ferguson gets caught in the rundown, but gets beaned in the head with the ball and scores. Chris carroll attempts to also cross the the plate but is tagged out in the collision. Glenvar wins it 13 to 4.
SUPER=04-Buffaloes vs. Spartans;


The Highlanders will face Floyd County Thursday in the championship. The Buffaloes beat Giles.
In the first inning; Floyd started big. With two on, Kamal Chantal gets blooper to third; scoring the runner from third. Then, T.J. Hollifield scores on a bad throw to first. 2-nothing Floyd.

Later in the inning with bases loaded; Giles pitcher Ben Brown walks in three runs to give Floyd a 5-nothing lead and the Buffaloes down the Spartans 7 to 4.

Northside easily advanced in Blue Ridge district tournament softball action today.

We pick it up in the Bottom of the fourth. Northside's Katie Hail connects on the infield single that plates Jenell Holler from third base.
Later in the inning, Holler would score again; this time crossing the plate on a wild pitch.
The Lady Vikings win it 17 to nothing to

advance in the Blue Ridge Tournament.
They'll next play Salem or Christiansburg.

Tech head basketball coach Bobby Hussey has completed his staff by hiring Tyrone Beaman.
For the past five years Beaman has been an assistant to Sonny Smith at VCU.
Beaman played college ball at Tennessee in the 80's.

((The Star City Saints basketball team was first composed of Vietnam Veterans, but now has disabilities ranging from spinal cord injuries and amputees.
To make teams more competitive players are given classifications.)) ((:)) ((The Saints have advanced as far as the sectionals of their national tournament.
Their success has also included six trips to a canadian tournament and winning it four straight years.)) ((:)) ((Wheelchair basketball has grown in Virginia with teams in Richmond and Charlottesville and talk of one in Martinsville, but is struggling to spread in Roanoke with other sports for the disabled available.))
