A former state delegate has pleaded guilty to nine counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
John Brown was given a five year suspended sentence.

Brown is an athletic director- He's agreed to resign his job at Virginia High School.
As part of his plea agreement, a felony charge of attempted forcible sodomy was reduced to the misdemeanor delinquency charge.
Prosecutors claim Brown invited young boys to his home to play basketball.
They say the games involved alcohol and partial stripping.
Brown refused to comment after the hearing.

32-year old Matthew Todd Atkins is accused of taking indecent liberties with a 15-year old girl.

Bedford County's school budget problems might end up costing school superintendent John Kent his job.

A high speed chase through two counties ends in a crash and an arrest.
Christiansburg Police stopped 29-year old Donald Wayne Sowers, Junior, of Salem, after finding the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department had issued a warrant for his arrest.

Sowers fled the scene in his car.
Police say he then led them on a high speed chase from Christiansburg to Salem.
The pursuit ended when Sowers apparently lost control and hit a police cruiser.
Abduction and sexual battery are among the charges Sowers faces in Montgomery County.
He is also now facing charges in Roanoke County, for assaulting an officer and reckless driving.

Organizers of the Fair By the James in Lynchburg aren't worried about having their event on the same weekend as Roanoke's Festival in the Park. For years, the city has been trying to breathe some life into its riverfront.. they seem to have accomplished that at least for one weekend.

Ever worry about turning your lottery ticket over to the store clerk to see what you've won?
An Arlington man's story won't make you feel any better.
He claims a deli owner stole his winning ticket, worth six-point-eight million dollars.
The man says the store owner told him he had won a free ticket, when he had really won the jackpot in the May tenth drawing.
The deli owner claims he found the ticket on the floor--he's been charged with grand larceny.
He's also now suing his accuser and the lottery for the jackpot.
For now, the ticket is in the custody of the state.
A lottery official says there's a lesson in all of this: always sign the back of your ticket.
