An Accident in Montgomery County sent two people to the hospital tonight.
It happened on Route four-60 just after six-30 this evening.
Police say the pickup truck, driven by Christopher Fisher of Elliston,
rear-ended a car that was turning left.
Several people were thrown from the pickup.
Two of them were seriously injured and were airlifted to Roanoke Memorial
No one in the car was injured.
Christopher Fisher is under arrest tonight.
A housefire in Pennsylvania killed four children.
It started when food left cooking unattended on a stove caught fire.
Four children, ages three through eight died, along with a grandmother.
Three other people got out alive.
Investigators say the house was equipped with smoke detectors, but they had
A dramatic ending to a hostage situation in Brazil this week.
Police say a man kidnapped three young girls.
When police caught up with him he released two, but would not let go of a two
year old girl as he held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her.

When the man looked away, a Brazilian police officer stepped forward and
shot him in the head.
The kidnapper died at the hospital a few hours later... the little girl was
Another hostage situation earlier this week in New Mexico ended with the
suspect in custody.
When officer Michael Applegate stopped a car south of Alberqueque, the
driver jumped out with a gun.
Applegate tries to get the gun away from the man but fails, and after a
brief struggle, the man holds the gun to Applegate's head.

The gunman, 20 year old Thomas Stokell Junior, forced Applegate into the car
and made him drive away.
The car was stopped 12 miles down the road at a police blockade, and Stovell
gave up without a fight.
He was charged with kidnapping... the two fifteen year old girls in the car
were charged with conspiracy.
Flooding stranded some Colorado residents last night.

The water came from a broken water main that released 25 million gallons,
flooding a three-quarter mile area three miles from downtown Denver.
About three dozen people were stranded by the water, some ended up on the
roof of a store.
One flood victim was treated for hypothermia, but no one else was hurt.
Officials aren't sure what caused the water line to break.
Morning motorists found themselves in a traffic jam.
An overturned truck slowed traffic for several hours near Valley View Mall
Police say the driver of this truck was traveling down Hershberger Road with
a hydraulic lift extended into the air.
Apparently the lift hit the Airport Road overpass and the truck overturned.
About 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilled into a storm drain.
Fire officials say the spill was contained to the drain.
Police are charging the driver with reckless driving.
A second accident in Roanoke landed this car INSIDE a convenience store.
According to police the driver of the car accidentally hit the accelerator,
sending the vehicle crashing through the front door of the Seven-11 on Crystal
The car knocked down a steel support column and the front doors.
The car just missed a clerk standing behind the counter. And, no injuries
The Roanoke Chapter of the N-Double-A-C-P says it's working to erase
workplace discrimination in the valley.
Complaints about a local company prompted the meeting.

Bedford County police are warning people to be on the look-out for rabid
This after a rabid fox bit a six-year old girl and her grandmother earlier
The child was playing in a yard when the fox attacked her. The animal then
turned and bit the girls' grandmother as she tried to kick it. A neighbor later
killed the fox.
The two are being treated for possible rabies.

Lighting-up can REALLY be hazardous to your health as some Virginia smokers
found out when their Marlboro cigarettes exploded.
Philip Morris Companies -- the maker of Marlboro -- believe the cigarettes
may have been tampered with after they were made.

Rescue workers from across the country turned their eyes to Roanoke this
23 of their fallen comrades were honored at a memorial service. Their names
and added to the permanent memorial at To the Rescue.
Organizers say the service helps the families know the sacrifices of their
loved ones are appreciated.
To The Rescue is the national E-M-S museum located in Tanglewood Mall.
Roanoke was chosen for the one of a kind museum because it's the site of the
first rescue squad in the world.
Thousands of American flags are waving in honor of veterans this Memorial
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12-64 spent the morning placing U-S flags
on the graves of veterans.
They adorned nearly two thousand headstones in the Evergreen Cemetary.

Danville Police are trying to find the source of a flood of counterfeit
bills in their area.

Police say numerous phony 100-dollar bills were passed from May 15-th to May
18-th in the area.
All of the counterfeit bills look like the redesigned 100-dollar bills
released last year.
The last four digits of the serial numbers are 1-9-6-A, 1-8-6-A or 1-8-1-A.
Danville police are asking anyone with information on the counterfeit money
to call them.

The first signs of summer are here--with the many holiday travellers who
will be hitting the highways this weekend.
As more tourists crowd the roads, the American Automobile Association says
it expects new records to be set.
Triple-A is estimating that 30-point-eight million people will travel at
least 100 miles from home.
That's up by a half-million travellers compared to last year.
But at least one figure is going down--the cost of gasoline.
Triple-A spokesman Randy Green says a gallon of regular gasoline is down
about nine cents from last year. Motorists this summer can expect to pay about
one-dollar and 16-cents.
