Virginia environmental investigators report the substance leaked from an
underground pipe at the Ingersoll- Rand plant in the county.
The investigators say nearby residents are in no immediate danger.
The leak was caused by a corroded pipe.

A Maryland man is accused of putting his child's life in jeopardy while
driving his CAR.
A charge of Reckless Endangerment of Child has been certified against 30-
year- old Darryl Joe (RED-fern) Redfearn.
According to authorities, Redfearn was driving more than 100 miles an hour
down Route 220 in Botetourt County.
When police pulled him over, they found his 6- year- old son standing up in
the back seat of the vehicle.
If convicted Redfearn could face 5 years in prison.

Virginia Military Institute has filed its last quarterly report until

At this point 65 women have been accepted to VMI and nearly half of them
have sent in deposits to secure a spot.

A Salem man has lost his challenge of a state law that requires those
convicted of drug offenses to give up their driver's licenses for six months.
The Virginia Court of Appeals rejected an appeal from Eric Walton, who lost
his license after detectives found marijuana in his home.
Walton claimed the suspension violated his right to due process.
But the court says suspending a drug offender's license helps control the
the sale of illegal substances from vehicles and also driving under the
influence.
