Michael Knowles said he did not intend to kill his wife, and his attornies
argued that he was incapable of pre-meditated murder.
But today, members of a Montgomery County jury decided otherwise.
They sentenced him to life plus 83 years for first degree murder, attempted
capital murder and other offenses.

A Baltimore man with ties to Southwest Virginia is charged with rape,
malicious wounding and grand theft auto following an alleged crime spree in
34-year-old Archie William Cooper was captured by Virginia State Police at
the Ironto Rest Area early this morning.
He's accused of raping a 13-year old girl, stabbing three people including
his estranged wife, and stealing a pickup truck.
A woman who helped raise him... says she's not surprised by the charges.

This is the fourth meeting in which Huff Lane residents and officials have
gone head-to-head about the Valley View Road Extension.
Residents raised new concerns about dust control from construction and
future up-keep for the road.
City officials said they'do their best to minimize the dust.
They also pointed out that taxpayers wouldn't have to foot much of the bill
for the construction. The developer is funding doing that.
But, officials didn't budge on the issue of school safety.
