A man wanted in Baltimore after going on violent crime spree yesterday
morning has been apprehended in Montgomery County.
Archie Cooper is being held in the Montgomery County jail in connection with
three stabbings, assault, rape, burglary and auto theft.
Authorities say early yesterday morning he stabbed his estranged wife, her
boyfriend and another man.
Cooper also allegedly raped a thirteen- year- old girl, attacked a woman and
stole two vehicles- all in the Baltimore area.
He was arrested early this morning while sleeping in one of the stolen
vehicles at the Ironto rest stop.
A man who accumulated eleven misdemeanors and seventeen felonies in just
five years was sentenced yesterday for killing his girlfriend's young son.
Steven Wayne Cole pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the death of
two- year- old Joshua Blevins.
Cole received a thirty year sentence with ten years suspended.
He could face more prison time for unrelated crimes.

when they're thrown from the back of a pickup truck.

Governor Allen has vetoed pickup truck restraint legislation twice.
Craft says the bill's legislative sponsors will re-introduce the bill next
year, in hopes that Governor Allen's successor will have a different viewpoint.
The town of Saltville is making tracks to regain railroad service.
Town Council and Roanoke-area businessman Bill Pinkerton last night wrapped
up a contract that allows Pinkerton to buy the nine miles of track that link
Saltville with the Norfolk Southern main line in Glade Spring.

The I-T-T Night Vision has won a large contract with the Australian Defense
